Title: Domination- Roger Federer | Limited Edition 50 There have been many notable tennis players and personalities but no one epitomizes dominance in a sport like Roger Federer. In this painting, I wanted to paint in a classic style of impressionism. I utilized quick brushstrokes, intense colors and suggestion to bring the elements of the painting together. The boldness and contrast of color seem to work toward the spontaneous nature of the action of Roger on a return shot. Some of Roger's vast accomplishments over his career would include: » Won the Australian Open, the Championships, Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open in the same year three times; in 2004, 2006, and 2007 » He equaled Björn Borg's Open Era record of five consecutive Wimbledon singles titles in 2007 » Captured the Open era record of most consecutive US Open titles (four) in 2007 » Ranked World #1 for a record 217 consecutive weeks, outlasting Jimmy Connors's record of 160 consecutive weeks as #1 men's player and Steffi Graf's record of 186 weeks as #1 singles player in the world » As of February 1, 2008, Federer has held the No. 1 spot every week for four straight years on the ATP Rankings » To date, 53 total wins of more than $39 million in winnings. |
